Until 13 June, we meet at Thursdays 7.30pm at the Canterbury Horticultural Centre (Watling Lounge), Hagley Park South, 57 Riccarton Avenue (entrance just up from the hospital on the other side of the road - see "Where do we meet?" for a map). From 19 June onwards our meetings will be on Wednesday evening instead, same place, same time. Various social functions are organised, the atmosphere is informal, and tea and biscuits are served. We show slides or have guest speakers most nights. If you can give a presentation or have ideas, please contact the Social Convenor via the Contact Us page. Please note that formalities start at 7:50 pm sharp, and if there is a guest speaker, he/she will start at 8:10 pm sharp. Other social occasions and trips are arranged at various times. Come along!

After the verbal trip reports from the Easter trips we will learn about "Malta the fortress and Cyprus the divided country".
Chris is an experienced guide and his commentary will be as entertaining as the photos. |

Thursday 13 June: Head torches - the essential item on every (winter) trip |
|
For the next couple of winter months the sun will set between 5 and 6 pm. This is usually time when we are finishing our tramps. So if you don't want to get caught in the dark, relaying on glow-worms, glowing eyes of possums or other random glows, you ought to have a GOOD HEAD TORCH! Come along to this club night and bring your best and brightest head torch (or other source of light) to show/compare with other members. If you don't own one yet, or are just about to purchase, even better: Come along and get advise and recommendations from a real field testers! |
